mcdc Scholarship awards event

On April 30th, 2022. MCDC held their 1st Scholarship Awards Luncheon. The luncheon was a huge success, as it was well attended. Over 200 people gathered to see students and community members alike receive cash awards toward their future educational pursuits.

Five categories were the basis of the awards. Physicians/Nurses, Trades/Industry, Future Business Leaders, Community Outreach & Activism, and Arts, Theater & Music. Five awards were to be granted initially, but it ballooned to 15 by the day of the event.

Some of our special guest Attendees & Presenters were State Rep Dan K. Williams, Commissioner Marian Moskowitz, Recorder of Deeds Chris Pielli, Dr Vincent Miles, City Manager James Logan, & Mrs Minnie McNeil.

Emcee for the luncheon event was Fonz Newsuan, who added his energetic personality and humor to make this a luncheon to remember.

MCDC is already in the planning stages for our 2nd Annual Scholarship Event. Plans to add more categories is in the process, and we’re looking for a larger turnout.
